Mould Development was the initial starting point at Protech Model. When the company was started in 1990, the main market for business was for people who needed moulds to be made. Since then, Protech Model has stopped making moulds for clients, unless the mould will get used at Protech Model for production work. 

Many moulds have been built at Protech Model and the Craftsmanship is clearly top class. 

The development team is used to make a component from start to finish. This would include the design of the product (often customers have only an idea), machining of a mould, finishing of a mould and sending the mould into production.  

In the Production process, a first off sample is manufactured and tested. If approved, the manufacturing process can continue and development on a robot jig can commence. Once the parts are manufactured, they can now be robot trimmed and the part is ensured to look and feel exactly like the customer first envisioned it. 

At Protech Model we use many different material to manufacture our tooling. We offer superwood tooling, fibreglass tooling, resin cast tooling as well as aluminium tooling. Our most used tooling option is superwood as it is the most cost effective and over our 35 years, we have really been able to manufacture a surface finish that both meets our quality standard and is durable enough to last for large production runs. 

Our Development of high quality products is the backbone of our manufacturing, as without it, our products would not offer the extreme quality that they offer.
